A non-extinguished cigarette butt caused great fire in Forestry
In Australia a great forest fire was caused by a cigarette butt. At least, this presumption seems to be one of the most reasonable.
Now, the forest fire is still out of control. The fire is on Forestry Tasmania land on both sides of the Tasman Highway near Scottsdale.
The fire is very hard to control as it is in a dry eucalypt forest. Even, it was involved bulldozers and helicopters, the situation seems to be very unpredictable.
“We’ve got three bulldozers and two helicopters helping with the control of the fire,” said Forestry’s District Manager, Peter Bird.
“It’s not contained as yet but we’re working on that,” added Mr. Bird.
Even it is unknown the precise cause of the fire, but Mr. Bird supposes that it is because of not extinguished cigarette butts.
”We’re not exactly sure, but we believe it may have been someone discarded a cigarette butt out the window of their vehicle,” he said.
“So if I could ask people to be particularly careful with cigarettes as they’re driving along.”
At the moment, the actual damages are indeterminate, but as the fire is still out of control, it can be presupposed that the damages will rise.
One such fire destroys in few hours the forest fauna and flora that have grown there for decades.
It is very irresponsible to cause such a fire due to the foolishness to drop the not extinguished cigarette buts.
Hope for future, after reading this article, smokers will think about the consequences of the “somewhere” dropper cig buts.
