Filtrona introduces Menthol filters for RYO cigarettes
Filtrona Filter Products Co, the leading maker of filter systems in the world, has developed new menthol menthol-flavored filter tips for the growing Roll Your Own segment of the market that the company claims is easy to use and includes acetate to protect from slipping while rolled into a cigarette.
Flavored filters for roll your own cigarettes have always been tough to use since they have a slick outer surface which might make the filters slip while they are being rolled with tobacco, according Filtrona. Its latest Diamond Menthol filter does not have analogues on the market, as it would be the only filter tocontain Non-Wrapped Acetate (NWA), eliminating slippage, the company added.
According to Filtrona, it was not possible to create a menthol-flavored filter until this year, as the steaming process applied to fix the plasticizer would eliminate the flavor. The company admitted they found a way to solve the problem by creating a flavor application process that would not be impacted by steaming.
