Great news for smokers
Michigan senate has decided to exempt casinos, horse racetracks and cigar bars from smoking ban. This law was discussed by senate and approved by the House. Many discussions and comments were aroused concerning this problem.
The Michigan Restaurant Association and Michigan Licensed Beverage Association suggested that namely the businesses should decide what services they want to offer, as smoking or not.
Many restaurant and bar owners predict ban as being a hard hit on their businesses and lost of clients, as numerous customers simply refuse to attend an establishment where smoking is prohibited. This prediction was already experienced by owners from the states where the ban has been launched.
Bars and restaurants ought to decide whether to allow lightening up in their building. Smokers are also a part of society with the same rights and freedom of choice.
This affirmation was supported also by Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop, R-Rochester, adding that this “put unnecessary government restrictions on private establishments”.
Michigan Senate decided to let at least some places where smokers wouldn’t be excepted, although this idea wasn’t supported by anti-smoking groups.
Diane Goldstein from West Bloomfield, who is antismoker, said the ban on the contrary will rise up the revenues of the businesses.
“I don’t understand why restaurants can’t say, “Come in, eat for an hour, then go home and smoke,” she said.
Many smokers used to smoke while drinking or eating. That’s why banning of this habit rises hot discussions among smokers and non-smokers.
