In California will be banned smoking in apartments
In a recent report the statement that by 2012, Californian government plans to make 80% of Calabasas apartments smoke-free was published.
Calabasas is a city in California, in the Western part of the United States, nicknamed as “nonsmoking town”. In February 2006, smoking was restricted in public places, including sidewalks, parking lots, patios, and even outdoor balconies in apartment complexes if they were near common areas. This city has the strictest anti-smoking laws in the United States. Fines for smoking in a prohibited place are up to $500. Facing such impressive fines explains why Calabasas was nicknamed as “nonsmoking town”
Calabasas has a population of 25.000 people. It is undoubtedly that there are many smokers in this town as well and it is unfair to infringe their rights. If it becomes outlaw to smoke in your own apartment, it can be estimated as intervening in the peoples’ own business and personal life.
Even so, California has stated that for 2012 one of the main objectives is to make “nonsmoking” town more nonsmoking.
