Smoke free in casinos
Rote of casinos comes from over two hundred years. The first appeared in luxurious French resorts and German spas. People that attended such locals were from ‘high society’. After introduction of roulette in the late eighteenth century, the casinos began to draw a much wider public.
Time passed and some things changed and innovated. One of recent introduced is smoking ban that prohibit lightening of any tobacco product in such public places as bars, restaurants, streets, park, etc. What about casinos it is clear yet.
An example of casinos is Holland Casinos, located in Groningen. As it was stated, “when you enter a Holland Casino, you immediately find yourself in a world of glamour and entertainment. All staff, whether on the casino floor or ‘behind the scenes’, do their utmost to ensure that their guests enjoy a truly unforgettable afternoon or evening. It is staff who determines the atmosphere of the casino, assisted of course by the strict rules and procedures which Holland Casino observes as the only legal casino operator in the Netherlands.”
What about staff. Of another point of view is one worker of this casino. The court has abandoned the claim from a casino worker that desired to work in a smoke-free workplace. As results of working in a smoking environment he has respiratory problems.
As court sustained, the Holland Casino does not need ban smoking, at least till 2011 year, according to coalition accord. Court motivated its decision by fact “it would be too drastic a move to require the casino to ban smoking since it is a part of the hospitality industry.”
Also it was added by court that it is personal choice in what place to work and when this men came to be engaged to this job knows that he would work in a place where will be smokes tobacco.
