Smoking Ban hurts Business
All the casinos owners are against smoking ban, especially the owners of Pennsylvania’s casinos. They said that limiting smoking is hurting business, so they’re appealing to state officials to expand the size of their smoking sections. When the Clean Indoor Air Act went into effect the 25 percent of smokers kicked the habit. A regular smoker said: "I like coming in casino and being entertained and of course enjoy smoking as well."
The casinos owners proposed to make more smoking spaces at the Meadows up to 50%. Dan Catena, American Cancer Society director of Communication, told: "We’re very disappointed that casinos would take measures to expand the smoking up to 50% because it’ll expose customers and employees to dangerous second-hand smoke." Johnson, who is a smoker, said that she thinks that expanding the smoking section will help business. "I think that’s wonderful, they’ll get more people in here...It’s a known fact that smokers spend more at the casinos."
Ernest Truffa, a nonsmoker, said that he doesn’t have any problem with this proposal. "I think everybody should be given rights to smoke or not smoke."
