Smoking ban make people go under
Again smoking ban! Smoking ban is public policy that prohibits smoking in public and workplaces places. It is expected for future to have a society healthier and happier.
This will happen if future will come. The problem of tobacco light up in public places protects some but hurt others.
Cigarettes forbidden was introduces not so long time ago, but it already had its victims. Bars, restaurants, airports suffer big sunk costs. There are taverns where smoking was banned and so they had failed.
An example of such tavern is located in Golden and belongs to Angie Godfrey. As she stated, her business is going down after smoking of cigarettes was banned. Around 80% of her clients were smokers. Now, in 8 hours her tavern did 34 dollars. This situation doesn’t affect only her business, but also her employers. She was constrained to cut it down. Four of employers became jobless and this affected also their families.
There are cases that are more in badly situation. For example that of Stacey Meadow is the owner of Majestic Salon in Aurora. “I can’t afford to close. I would still have to pay my rent. I’m liable for my lease for another 8 years. I’d lose my house”
The local business if affected and the owner are in desperate situation.
A Colorado lawmaker, Sen. Lois Tochtrop, proposed to introduce bill for proprietors of “mom and pop” bars in order to permit smoking. This bill will estimate extra 500$ for their liquor license. He attest his proposal:” Yo post that this is a place that allows smoking, remember, these are adult establishments. People who go to these establishments are adults and they go there by choice.” It’s an accurate conclusion.
The idea of additional tax for cigarettes (sold or smoked) seems to satisfy some tavern owners. They agreed to pay 500 dollars per year then to lose 500 dollars in one week.
And it cannot be neglected the fact that after introducing of tobacco prohibition in bars customers became angrier, increase the number of fights and property destructions outside of bars.
As conclusion lets consider Angie Godfrey opinion that “It’s big tobacco who they should be going after, not the small person who is trying to live the American dream”
