Sudden Decision to Quit Smoking is Best
Spontaneous decision to quit smoking leads to a positive result more often than a well thought-out plan, as a British Medical Journal informs.
University College London researchers interviewed approximately 2000 smokers and ex-smokers about their attempts to quit.
It was cleared out that two thirds of smokers who quit spontaneously could refuse the cigarettes for half an hour at least. At the same time a thought-out and planned decision appeared to be less effective under half of smokers responded.
It was traditionally thought that the best way to get rid of the habit is for smokers to pass several stages - thinking about stopping, planning an attempt and making that attempt.
English scientists suppose that infelicitous attempts to stop smoking among people who were planning this step are provided by an insufficient motivation. At the same time a successful quit of smoking is a result of a strong motivation as a rule. Dissatisfaction with being a smoker provokes a kind of tension. Then, when it is high, any insignificant trigger makes the smoker realize that the time has come to quit.
There exist a plenty of clinics in the USA and Europe, which help to those who cannot get rid of smoking without assistance.
