The study done by the UK College of Public Heath was implemented in the following way: the UK College Nursing members, beginning with 2001 till 2005 year, interviewed 3,457 Kentuckians cigarette smokers of six counties. The study lasted four years in order to observe the changes in statistics of cigs smokers. So, according to last data of investigation, the total estimated number of tobacco users, before cigarette smoking ban was equal to 53.444, but after the enforcing of the anti-tobacco law it was equal to 36.977 cigarette users. It can be concluded that during the period the cig ban, the tobacco products don’t else interest around 16.467 smokers. It’s an impressive number. As affirmed Ellen Hahn, the UK professor, “a 32 % drop is a huge thing.”
A comparison research was done between Lexington and another five counties: Boone, Hardin, Kenton, Oldham and Woodford where the smoke-free laws weren’t introduced. The result shows that the number of the cigarette smokers from the listed below counties didn’t count big changes. This fact remain in the same state even after in Lexington was introduced the prohibition of tobacco smoking.
The results shown by 5 counties are different from that of Lexington tobacco users; the number of smokers goes down.
It can be concluded that the introduction of smoking prohibition gives the positive and continuous increasing results.
And also it can be concluded that the people doesn’t give up smoke if there weren’t a legal and strict smoking ban.
